FC Barcelona will play against Unió Esportiva Olot on July 13, at their rival’s home and to contribute to their centenary, in what will be the first friendly match of the pre-season for Xavi Hernández’s men, before the tour of the United States.
“On July 13, FC Barcelona will play the first friendly match of the 2022/23 preseason against Unió Esportiva Olot, coinciding with the centenary of the La Garrotxa club. The match will be played at the Olot Municipal Stadium at 7:00 p.m.”, announced the blaugrana club.
It will be on July 4 when Barça start the 2022/23 preseason, with medical tests and the first training session of the new course. And the first game will be on July 13 at the Municipal de Olot. A duel that comes six days before the first friendly match of the United States tour, on July 19 in Miami.
Xavi Hernández’s men will open the preseason against a recently promoted to the Second RFEF, after beating Sant Andreu, Girona B and Tenerife B in the promotion playoff from the Third RFEF.
The duel in Olot will be the first between the two clubs since May 7, 1980, when Barça won 1-3. It is the last of the 10 games that both teams have played throughout their history.
