FC Barcelona, chaired by Joan Laporta, is willing to cut short Ousmane Dembélé’s soap opera. Once the French striker has returned to ‘haggle’ with the club, both in his refusal to accept a downward renewal and in his rejection of the offers he has received in recent days to leave Barcelona, The entity considers that the striker cannot continue for another minute at the club.
As AS has learned, right now within Barcelona there are two options: give him the letter of freedom or directly dismissal. The first alternative would be the most comfortable for both parties: the club gives the player the freedom letter, who from then on is a free agent, and his file continues to be paid until he finds a team. In this sense, Barcelona can save a significant percentage of the wage bill and the player has time to choose the team that he considers most convenient. However, to accept the letter of freedom there must be a prior agreement between the two parties, something that, as this newspaper has learned, does not exist, because Dembélé is not willing to leave.
In the event that he does not accept the freedom letter, the other alternative, much more drastic, but just as effective, is the dismissal of the player, after liquidation of all his file. In this case, Barcelona would be forced to pay their entire salary until June 30, but would be definitively released from any future relationship with the player.
What is clear is that Barcelona does not contemplate, in any case, that Dembélé dress more with the blaugrana shirt, considering it completely counterproductive to continue in the club’s discipline until June 30. And it is that Xavi Hernández has already made it very clear, both active and passive, that he is not in favor of leaving a player in the stands all season, so right now at the club two only solutions are being evaluated to release Dembélé: either a release letter or dismissal.
