BARCELONA, 15 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça Femení has confirmed this Friday its participation in the Teide Trophy, a friendly tournament against UDG Tenerife Egatesa that in its 50th edition will take place on Saturday, August 27 at the Los Cuartos Stadium in La Orotava, starting at 9:00 p.m.

“The team, which will come to the meeting after closing the 2021/22 season with a treble in Spanish football by winning the League, the Super Cup and the Copa de la Reina, will face UDG Tenerife Egatesa, which in 2015 became the first team from the Canary Islands to reach the Women’s First Division,” reported the Barça club.

The Teide Trophy held its first edition in 1971 and incorporated a women’s football edition for the first time in 2015. On that occasion, the UDG Tenerife Egatesa and a Canarian team with the best regional players of the moment took part in the competition.

This summer the competition will be held again after two years of interruption due to the restrictions and limitations derived from the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented it from being held in 2020 and 2021.

In this way, Jonatan Giráldez’s players will play in the Teide Trophy as part of their pre-season preparation, which this summer will also include the ‘AMOS Women’s French Cup’ between August 16 and 19, and the Joan Gamper Trophy, August 23.

In the French tournament, the Catalans will face Bayern Munich in their debut and, in case of victory, they will face the winner of the duel between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, while in the match to be held at the Estadi Johan Cruyff will play against Montpellier.
