MADRID, 9 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
FC Barcelona achieved its fifth victory in as many games in the group stage of the women’s ‘Champions’ this Thursday after beating Arsenal (0-4) in a match played at Meadow Park with Jennifer Hermoso, the author of a double , which confirms the culé leadership in the absence of a day.
The Blaugrana team, already classified for the quarterfinals, does not slow down in the highest continental competition. To his undeniable leadership in the Iberdrola League he also adds his absolute dominance in Europe, where he defends the crown won a few months ago.
This Thursday he had no problem passing over Arsenal. Jonathan Giráldez’s players went ahead at 22 minutes through Aitana Bonmatí -with a cross shot after an error by the local defense- and on the edge of half an hour came the second of the night in Jennifer Hermoso’s boots. Everything turned upside down for the Blaugranas before the break.
To make matters worse for the English, the Catalan team signed the 0-3 in the extension of the first act. This time it was the work of the Swedish Fridolina Rolfo with a right hand from outside the area. A real goal against which Manuela Zinsberger, the goalkeeper ‘gunner’, could do nothing.
In the second half, 15 minutes from the end, Barça established the final 0-4 thanks to an excellent combination of up to four players who culminated – not without difficulties – Jennifer Hermoso who arrived alone at the far post. The goal sentenced an Arsenal that when they came out of the cave they ran into the saves of Sandra Paños.
Barça will close the first phase of the women’s ‘Champions’ on December 15 against HB Koge of Denmark, bottom of the group with zero points. The culés will meet their rival in the quarterfinals in the draw to be held on December 20.
