Barça comes back in Frankfurt with a great second half

1-3 for the culés against an Eintracht that struck first

MADRID, 22 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona won this Wednesday 1-3 on their visit to Eintracht Frankfurt, with two goals from Salma Paralluelo and another from Mariona Caldentey, to come back from the duel and thus prolong their good performance in Group A of the Women’s Champions League. at the rate of two victories in as many days played.

At Deutsche Bank Park, the culé team started more in tune thanks to their wingers, but without the bite for Paralluelo and Caldentey themselves to connect with Caroline Graham Hansen at the right moments. In fact, the first clear chance of the first half came from Eintracht, in the boots of Nicole Anyomi shortly before half-time.

On a long ball, and leaning to the right, Anyomi escaped the marking of two defenders to hit a powerful shot that Sandra Paños had to send to the corner. It was the prelude to 1-0, scored with a header by Laura Freigang after a cross from Verena Hanshaw from the left.

However, Jonatan Giráldez’s pupils recomposed themselves upon returning from the locker room. Having warned about the goal defended by Stina Johannes as soon as the second half started, Ona Batlle found space to look into the rival area from her left lane and cross; Paralluelo appeared there to get ahead of Johannes and equalize the contest.

Following a poorly defended corner by the Frankfurt team, and after a couple of rebounds inside the area, Caldentey hunted down that loose ball to push into the net (59′) the goal that already meant the comeback. With Barça dominating on both sides of the field, the local team barely came close to Paños’ goal again.

The players coached by Niko Arnautis even conceded the third and final goal, thanks to the inspired Paralluelo, thanks to a left-footed shot after an assist from Aitana Bonmatí inside the area. Not in vain, the Blaugrana team had accumulated better statistics and solved the ballot calmly and above all with quality.

This good harvest placed Giráldez’s team at the top of the group, with six points out of a possible six, and left the German team with three points in second place. SL Benfica now has the same figure, due to its 1-0 victory against FC Rosengard this Wednesday.
