The board of directors of FC Barcelonaat the meeting held today in La Jonquera, approved recovering the name of Barça Atlètic for the Barça subsidiary. The idea was already raised during the electoral campaign of Joan Laportawho liked the name better Barça Atlètic than Barça B.
Already in 2008, hand in hand with The door in his previous presidential mandate, the subsidiary recovered the name of Barça Atlètic after having called Barça B from 1990 to that date.
The FC Barcelona Atlético was founded under this name in 1970, as a result of the merger of the CD Condalwho had been a Barça affiliate, and the Atletico Catalonia CF. It kept that name until 1990, when the Sports Law of the Royal Spanish Football Federation forced all affiliates to join their parent club, adopting its name. In this line, the Barcelona subsidiary was renamed as Barcelona B. In 2008, Laporta returned the name of Barça Atlètic and in 2010, already with Sandro Rosell as president, was renamed Barça B.
