Barça also breathes from a penalty in the Cup

Xavi's men beat the modest Barbastro after getting complicated in a bad second half

MADRID, 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona beat Barbastro (2-3) this Sunday to overcome its debut in the Copa del Rey and advance to the round of 16, showing the two sides it looks this season against a Second RFEF rival that put it on the ropes in the second time.

Xavi Hernández's team fell asleep after a good start and with a 0-2 lead. The locals got into the tie with a corner kick and Barça barely made two passes in a row for almost the last half hour. A penalty goal from Robert Lewandowski in the 88th minute resolved a still agonizing outcome because the home team ended up making it 2-3 also from a penalty in stoppage time.

This time Xavi managed to get his team to come out on top, facing the danger of a blush that was much greater than anyone else so far, and Barça had the tie in their hand already in the first half. The three divisions of difference were noticeable because the culé team pushed, ran and did not stop looking for their options.

Joao Félix, who regained ownership, Raphinha, Ferran, Frenkie de Jong, big words for a Barbastro that collapsed very quickly. The match soon turned into a culé siege, especially by Raphinha's side, in a duel with Franc Carbonell that the Brazilian international opted for.

In fact, the push of the local defender served as an advantage for the visitors in Fermín's 0-1 at 18 minutes, another one who was always lurking in the rival area. The Huesca team came out on top with Carbonell's ride and Barça, who recovered balls in their pressure this time, mounted the counter that opened the scoring.

The locals claimed a foul on De Mesa, although Xavi's team also had reasons to complain about the 0-2 score disallowed against Joao Félix due to a doubtful offside. A deflected shot by Kike was the only approach from Barbastro who, despite being overwhelmed at times, went into the break alive with the score short.

The Aragonese team took a step forward after the restart, with more arrivals as soon as they returned to the field, but Barça fulfilled its mission of doubling the lead. A 0-2 by Raphinha in a succession of good plays by Héctor Fort that, however, put the most successful team in the Copa del Rey to sleep in the game.

The doubts came from behind, the lack of attitude and the losses of the ball, especially from Joao Félix and Oriol Romeu. In a bad transfer by the Portuguese, the corner came where Barbastro went in with everything to make it 1-2 with De Mesa. Barça disappeared from the game for many minutes, suffering Iñigo Martínez's injury as soon as he came on, but with a quality on the pitch that he did not show off.

Vitor Roque, Gündogan and Lewandowski, Xavi burned ships but Barça did not smell the ball. Israel had it very clear to make it 2-2 and the local leadership died in a handball in the area. Lewandowski converted the maximum penalty and Barça breathed in the Cup from a penalty, just like in the League on Thursday against Las Palmas, although Barbastro had the last word with Prat's 2-3.
