Bahrain to host 2025 F1 World Championship pre-season testing

MADRID, 16 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Formula 1 World Championship organisers the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced on Monday that the Bahrain International Circuit will host three days of pre-season testing in 2025, on 26, 27 and 28 February.

The Sakhir track has hosted pre-season testing on six separate occasions since 2009 at a venue featuring consistent weather conditions, a combination of high and low speed corners and two long straights that allow F1 teams to gather maximum information for the upcoming campaign, the two bodies recalled.

Bahrain, which joined the Formula 1 calendar in 2004, was the first country in the Middle East to host a Formula 1 race and this season celebrated its twentieth anniversary of a race where the Englishman Lewis Hamilton, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso, the Dutchman Max Verstappen and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc were the winners on the Asian circuit and are still on the current grid.

These important tests for the 2025 season will also be carried out just over a month before the World Championship officially kicks off with the Australian Grand Prix, which will be held in Melbourne from March 14 to 16.

In addition, both Formula 1 and the FIA noted that as part of the continued drive towards sustainability, with the sport on track to become ‘Net Zero’ by 2030, a significant percentage of cargo will remain in Sakhir for the return of the Bahrain Grand Prix on 11-13 April.
