Auger-Aliassime makes his hat trick and Medvedev conquers Vienna

MADRID, 30 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Canadian tennis player Felix Auger-Aliassime was proclaimed champion of the ATP 500 tournament in Basel (Switzerland) with victory in the final this Sunday against Danish Holger Rune 6-3, 7-5, while Russian Daniil Medvedev triumphed with a comeback (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) at the ATP 500 in Vienna against Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

Auger-Aliassime has chained three titles in a row in recent weeks with his victories in Antwerp, Florence and now at the home of Roger Federer. The Canadian added the fourth title of 2022, when he started the year with eight eight-play lost finals.

The American player, executioner of the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals, did not give an option with his serve in the first set, which he scored with a single ‘break’. In the second, Auger-Aliassime saved three break balls and took advantage of his momentum to win the final.

Meanwhile, Medvedev won the fifteenth title of his career, the second of the year after Los Cabos, bringing out his best version of the week to come back from a tough match against Shapovalov, much more complete in the decisive third set, in which he put 5-1.
