Atlético's squad already has more value than Madrid's

Atlético's fantastic season is not going unnoticed. Despite the puncture against Celta, the rojiblanco team is the leader with a good eight-point cushion over Real Madrid and Barcelona, with a less contested game than their pursuers, and in their squad there are several players who are coming out stronger.

According to the last calibration of the specialized website Transfermarkt, Atlético's squad has surpassed that of Real Madrid in market value after a slow winter market in LaLiga. The incorporation of Moussa Dembélé (valued at 30 million) from Olympique de Lyon attached to the exit of Odegaard bound for Arsenal (€ 40M) has thrown the balance in favor of Simeone's. Atlético has a current staff value of 769 million, compared to 742 for Real Madrid. Figures very far from those of previous years, where both teams exceeded 900 million, but the economic crisis that is dragging the coronavirus has caused a global decrease in the value of footballers and a lower expense for Spanish teams.

The rojiblanco club is situated as the second most valuable in LaLiga after Barcelona (€ 807M). Of course, Atlético can boast of having the two most sought-after players in the entire competition: João Félix and Jan Oblak. The Portuguese has increased his benefits this season, where the coronavirus prevented him from participating against Celta and he has six goals and five assists in 18 games (plus three goals in the Champions League). At 21, he is one of the players called to make history in the future and its market value is at 100 million. He is followed by an Oblak who despite conceding in the last four games is on his way to his fifth Zamora award. The 28-year-old goalkeeper has a market value of 90 million.

The third position is shared Leo Messi and Ansu Fati. The two Barcelona players have a contribution of 80 million. It should be noted that Transfermarkt takes into account the age of the footballers in its estimates, hence the Argentine star shares value with the great promise of the club for the future (Ansu is only 18 years old). This also explains that Luis Suárez or Benzema reduce their value despite contributing goals. The Uruguayan is the Pichichi of LaLiga with 16 goals in 17 games, surpassing Cristiano as the best scoring start of a player with a new club in the competition in the 21st century, but when you turn 34 your price low from 18 to 15 million.

The rojiblancos players who grow in this new calibration are Hermoso (from 25 to 30), Savic (from 20 to 25), Lemar (from 15 to 20), Carrasco (from 25 to 30), and Marcos Llorente (from 45 to 50). Others, in addition to Suárez, see their price decline. Cases of Giménez (from 70 to 65), Felipe (25 to 20), Lodi (from 50 to 40), Vrsaljko (10 to 8), Torreira (30 to 28), Saúl (70 to 60), Kondogbia (17.5 to 15), Herrera (10 to 8) and Vitolo (10 to 8). In Real Madrid only Casemiro (from 65 to 70) and Lucas Vázquez (from 10 to 15) have seen their estimation boosted. The bad season in the League, the elimination of the Cup and the defeat in the Spanish Super Cup have made a dent in the white squad.

In contrast, seven Real Madrid players have lost value in recent months. Militao (from 40 to 30), Marcelo (12 to 10), Odriozola (14 to 10), Hazard (60 to 50), Vinicius (50 to 40), Asensio (40 to 35) and Mariano (12 to 10) have decayed. The most valuable player of the white team for Transfermarkt is Courtois, which remains at 75 million. There is thus a sorpasso Atlético to become the second most sought-after team in LaLiga and where it has great value for the future in the age of its players, with only three footballers (Suárez, Felipe and Vitolo) over the age of 30, while in the capital's great rival are six (Modric, Ramos, Benzema, Marcelo, Kroos and Nacho) those who have exceeded thirty.
