The prestigious American magazine Forbes has published the list of the most valuable football clubs in the world, in a report that determines that the value of clubs has risen 30% on average in the last two years.
The FC Barcelona tops this ranking, unseating the Real Madrid of the first place, with a value of 3,996 million euros, for the 3,990 of the white entity.
The Atlético de Madrid, as expected, it does not appear in the top-10 of the most valuable clubs in the world, but it does appear in the thirteenth position of this classification, with a value of 839 million euros, that is, more than four times less than the two teams he competes with in the Spanish League.
The 20 most valuable soccer teams in the world have an average value of $ 2.28 billion each (1,914 million euros), which represents an increase of 30% compared to two years ago, the last time the ranking was published.
Thus, the average income of the 20 teams was 370 million euros for the 2019-20 season, 9.6% less than in 2017-18, while average operating income fell 70% in the period, to 19.3 million euros.
According to the publication, this drop is far from over, with revenue per match day worsening during the current season as most teams in the major European leagues still allow few fans to attend matches.
Forbs used operating income before the pandemic (2018-19 season), which were converted to US dollars based on average exchange rates during that season, and excluded player loan income.
Lteam values are business (equity plus net debt) and includes matchday income, but excludes real estate value.
Operating income is the sum of gross income, excluding interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, player negotiation and disposal of player records, while interest-bearing loans are included in debt.
