Atlético opens a binding vote to decide the return of the old shield

MADRID, 28 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Atlético de Madrid confirmed that it has opened a binding vote from this Wednesday until next Friday so that its partners can decide if they want to return to the old shield or keep the current one, which has been in place since the end of 2016.

As indicated by the rojiblanco team, its Board of Directors met this Wednesday after what happened last weekend during the non-binding consultation on this change and which yielded a high participation, with a total of 61,021 members, 44 percent, asking for for the club to consider this possibility.

“The meeting of the Board of Directors took place today, Wednesday June 28, at the Cívitas Metropolitano and has unanimously agreed to hold a binding vote to be able to choose between the current shield and the previous one,” the club said.

He reported that in this vote, which will end this Friday at 2:00 p.m., “the same system” used in the consultation last weekend will be used and in which “all members of the club who were registered before at 10:00 a.m. today, June 28, 2023, accrediting themselves with the credentials they use for their usual efforts”.

“As last weekend, a notary will duly record both the procedure used to carry out the vote and the result. In addition, the club will invite the members of the Social Commission to attend the opening of the result,” added the Athletic.

After last Thursday’s meeting of the club’s Social Commission, its members proposed holding a non-binding consultation to quantify the number of members who thought it convenient for the club to consider returning to the previous shield, a proposal that was accepted , for which reason a consultation was launched last weekend so that the partners who were in favor of this possibility expressed it.

Once the results were known, Miguel Ángel Gil, CEO of the entity, addressed the partners in an open letter in which he announced that a meeting of the Board of Directors would be called to propose holding a binding vote in which the could decide which shield should represent Atlético de Madrid.
