Athletic has confirmed what was an open secret: Iago
Herrerín will leave the rojiblanco club at the end of this season. The Bilbao goalkeeper told Ibaigane of his intention to leave and since then he has not counted even for Gaizka
Garitano not even for Marcelino
Garcia
Toral.

Herrerín, 33, has belonged to the rojiblanco first team for eight seasons, including 119 games as a lion, 56 in the League, 37 in the Europa League and 26 in the Cup. He was the starting goal in the Cup final played against Barça at the Camp Nou and can boast of having won the last two Super Cups.

“Formed in the rojiblancas lower categories, he has grown from his experience in Segunda B, in which he played six seasons (Barakaldo, Bilbao Athletic and Atlético B). He signed for Numancia and from there returned to Lezama for the first team in the 2013-14 season, with a loan to CD Leganés in between. Among other things, he will be remembered as the starting goalkeeper at the inauguration of the new San Mamés in the unforgettable match against Celta ”, says the club in its statement.

Athletic will present the local from Bilbao with a souvenir before starting the match against Real Madrid that will be played in San Mamés on May 16 from 6:30 in the afternoon in a unified schedule. It will be the last game of the season at home. Then there will be a visit to Elche to close the 2020-21 League.
