MADRID, 26 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Astralpool CN Sabadell has won the men’s water polo European Championship, the first in its history, after coming back this Saturday in the second leg of the final, played at Can Llong, 9-7 in the first leg against the Italian TeLiMar Palermo ( 11-5).
In this way, the Vallesan club becomes the second Spanish champion in this competition after CN Barcelona, who lifted the title in the 1994-95 and 2003-04 seasons.
Goals from Averka, Sanahuja, Cabanas and Bertrán allowed Sabadell to get the title back on track at the break (4-0), but Palermo rediscovered their game after the break and responded with three blows from Irving (2) and Basic.
Four minutes from the end, Sanahuja and Teclas shot the scoreboard to a 9-4 that goalkeeper Edu Lorrio helped consolidate, and with two minutes to go Bernat made it almost definitive 10-5 for Quim Colet’s men.
