Villarreal has just made official the departure of goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo from the club, who says goodbye after nine seasons defending the shirt of the Castellón team. A special goodbye, since The goalkeeper from Palencia leaves as the goalkeeper with the most matches in the club’s history, with 258 official matches to his credit.
Nine seasons in which he helped to establish the team in the First Division again, after relegation in the 11-12 season. He arrived in the 13-14 season on loan, to be the owner of the yellow goal for many years. His knee injuries were a tough test, but he was able to overcome them and come back stronger.
The goalkeeper contract ended this seasonin which he had lost ownership with Gero Rulli. Now how free agent the goalkeeper will look for his best option to continue playing.
