Ten days have passed since the nephew of Maria del Monte entered prison after being accused, along with seven other people, of the robbery that the artist suffered last August at her home. He continues to maintain his innocence and denies being the “intellectual author” of the crime. This Wednesday, another of those arrested in the case revealed what version he maintained. Antonio Tejado during the two days they remained together in the dungeon: “That I was able to talk about this over drinks with a friend and they went with another intention… It could be”said. “But I have never said anything about my aunt.”
That is, Tejado denies his direct involvement but admits knowing the gang, interacting with it and having discussed details that would have helped them carry out the robbery at María del Monte's house. “He said that it may be that at some point, due to the effects of drugs and alcohol, he could have talked about his family home but without any intention of being robbed.”this other defendant has said in That's life. “He thought he was going to get out of jail. When the lawyer told him that he was going in, he started crying like a child. He cried all day.”
The interviewee is, specifically, one of the recipients of part of the loot that was taken from María del Monte's house. “I buy a lot of things, watches if they are good, Rólex, good frames… I buy gold that they bring me, I melt it, we make ingots and I sell it. Keep in mind that maybe a kilo is three or four thousand euros in two minutes.” Of course, he acknowledges that he does not know if the origin of the gold is illicit or not: “I don't verify that.”
He is free on bail and awaiting trial: “We have not declared any, but they have said that the cake is like that. I have a minimal part.” He claims that they have taken about 20 or 30 watches from him: “I have to sit down and see what is of me, what is not of me, I don't know if it is gold or watches. I don't know what they tell me. No I know if I have had them, if I have not had them, if I have sold them or I have not sold them.
