As expected, and following the usual strategy of David Broncano in La Revuelta, in the battle of this December 31 there was no shortage of jokes directed at his competition, Cristina Pedroche and Alberto Chicote, the presenters of Antena 3. During the broadcast of On New Year’s Eve on TVE, the comedian and Lalachus did not miss the opportunity to address their rivals on the private network and use them as part of their show.
From the first minutes of the night, TVE showed Pedroche and his partner on several occasions. Broncano, with his megaphone, took the opportunity to address Pedroche and Chicote directly: “Cristina, Alberto! What time are the grapes?” he shouted. To which Lalachus added: “Nothing, they have seen us and they have not said anything.” Broncano, without losing his ironic tone, commented: “On the one hand, I know it’s a bit ugly because it’s distracting, but of course, this is funny.” Although Pedroche and Chicote greeted the TVE presenters, they decided not to do it live, waiting for a commercial break to intervene, which gave the impression that they wanted to avoid any type of improvised interaction. The result? A polite but not spontaneous greeting.
But on Antena 3, tired of the jokes and the possible image theft by showing Pedroche’s elegant dress on the rival network, they decided to act quickly. In the middle of the broadcast, and to protect the exclusivity of its presenter, the private network made an urgent decision: They placed a black screen to prevent the final design of Cristina Pedroche’s dress from being recorded. An effective measure, which made it clear that Antena 3 is not willing to lose a single detail of its exclusive “open TV.”
