Another drama for Neymar: there are already 4 this season

Neymar Jr suffered a major injury yesterday that, except for a last minute surprise, will keep him away from the pitch for six weeks, as RMC Sport reported this Sunday. Since landing in Paris in 2017, the Brazilian star has been an inexhaustible source of injuries that have prevented him from reaching regularity at PSG. It is the fourth injury suffered this season, which is being the worst as a professional for the former Barcelona player.

So far this year, Neymar has been off the pitch for 57 days, a figure that could rise to 99 if the diagnosis of the severe ankle sprain is confirmed who has suffered. In the four years he has spent in Paris, Neymar has had at least one serious injury per season that has even marked the future of PSG in the Champions League.

Undoubtedly, the two injuries that have affected him the most Neymar have been the metatarsal fractures. In both 2018 and 2019, the midfielder was lost the knockout stages of the Champions League in which PSG were eliminated. In 2020 he led the Parisian team to the last instance of the maximum continental competition (lost to Bayern) and, this year, Neymar was injured again, missing the round of 16 of the European Cup in which PSG ended up beating the Barcelona in a loose fit.

For now, hehe participation of Neymar in the knockout stages of the Champions League is not in danger. According to L’Équipe, the Brazilian international should return in mid-January to the competition, since the diagnosis, although not optimistic, has totally ruled out an ankle fracture. Throughout the morning, the player will undergo tests that will definitively determine the degree of sprain he has.
