Andreu Simón joins Miguel Caballero and Nuria Picas in the Ibiza Trail Marathon

The current champion of Spain already participated in 2016 and finished third

Andreu Simón, current champion of Spain, has confirmed his participation in the XIV edition of the Ibiza Trail Marathon and thus joins Miguel Caballero and Nuria Picas in the test that will take place in the Bay of Portmany, on October 15 and 16, The organizers reported in a statement.

The Ibiza Trail Marathon will have a new format, with four different distances. The 4-kilometer ‘Short’ joins in 2022 the usual 10-kilometer ‘Light’, 21-kilometre ‘Medium’, and ‘Marathon’, the 42-kilometre star event.

Simón will participate for the second time in the Ibiza Trail Marathon in his distance of 42 kilometers. The current champion of Spain already disputed the 42K in 2016 and was in third position. In 2022 he will try to climb to the top of the box to finish a season in which he won the Val d’Aran by UTMB, in his distance of 105 kilometers, and the Trail Moixeró, and be sixth in the UTMB CCC.

“I discovered the Ibiza Trail Marathon in 2016 and I loved it. Ibiza has a very special route and the level of runners is always high. It’s a nice way to close the season”, confessed Andreu.

Juanjo Planells, director of the organization, has been satisfied with the good poster that shows the test one more year. “There is great competition on the racing calendar at this time and it is a pride that they choose the Ibiza Trail Marathon,” he said.
