Andalusia will host the King and Queen's Cup of field hockey for the first time in 2024

Benalmádena and Málaga will be the venues for the competition from March 15 to 17

The Andalusian towns of Benalmádena and Málaga will host the 2024 Iberdrola Field Hockey King's and Queen's Cup, from March 15 to 17, as announced this Thursday by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalusia.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of Andalusia, Arturo Bernal, has shown his satisfaction with the choice of Andalusia as the venue for a new “great sporting event”. “It will bring to our land fans of a sport like hockey, so deeply rooted in our country, and that will generate an important economic and tourist impact in the area,” he stressed.

The president of the RFEH, Santi Deó, declared himself “delighted” that the Iberdrola 2024 King's and Queen's Cup is traveling to Andalusia. “This is an excellent opportunity for Spanish hockey fans to enjoy a weekend combining a spectacular competition with the enormous tourist offer that Benalmádena and Málaga offer to their visitors. The RFEH is proud to organize the Cup together with the Andalusian Hockey Federation and have the support of the Junta de Andalucía, the Provincial Council of Málaga and the Benalmádena City Council. We are convinced that it will be a success,” he commented.

The president of FAHOCKEY, Antonio Aguilera, has thanked the “good harmony and determined commitment” for this competition by the Junta de Andalucía, the Provincial Council of Málaga and the Benalmádena City Council and has highlighted that it is the best way to celebrate that Andalusia meets 75 years of hockey.

In this competition, fans from all over Spain will enjoy the best eight men's and women's teams from the MGS League and the Iberdrola League. After visiting Barcelona and Madrid in the last two editions, the Iberdrola King and Queen's Cup will be held together for the first time in Andalusia.

On a sporting level, there will be 16 teams, 8 men's and 8 women's, who will decide who wins the first big event of the year. Club de Campo and RC Polo are the teams that will defend the title won in the last edition.

In the men's competition the classified teams are: RC Polo, Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, Junior FC, Club Egara, RS Tenis, Atlètic Terrassa, CD Terrassa and Sanse Complutense.
