Andalusia mourns Javier Imbroda

The Minister of Education and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, Javier Imbroda Ortiz, has died on Saturday afternoon at the age of 61 after a long illness. A prostate cancer that could never break his strength. Before politics, Imbroda had left his mark on the world of basketball, as coach of the Spanish and Lithuanian national teams, and of clubs such as Mayoral and Unicaja de Málaga or Real Madrid, in a successful career.

The expressions of condolence before the announcement of the outcome, known this morning, are unanimous. From the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchezto that of the Board, Juanma Morenopassing through the president of the Spanish Basketball Federation, Jorge Garbajosathe newly elected president of the PP, Alberto Nunez Feijoothe former leader of Cs Albert Riverathe Andalusian Vice President John Marin and various personalities from Andalusian and Spanish politics and sports. They all highlight his legacy and the indelible memory of him.

The Junta de Andalucía has decreed three days of official mourning.

His mortal remains have been transferred to the Parque Cementerio de Málaga (Parcemasa), where a mass will be celebrated this afternoon.

At the express wish of the family, which appreciates all the signs of support received, he will be fired in the strictest privacy.
