Hours before Real Madrid faces RB Leipzig in the Champions League round of 16, it has emerged that the Madrid Prosecutor’s Office is requesting four years and nine months in prison for Carlo Ancelotti (64) for allegedly having defrauded the Treasury of more than one million euros in the fiscal years of 2014 (386,361 euros) and 2015 (675,718 euros).
As reported by the Public Ministry this Wednesday, the Prosecutor’s Office charges him with two crimes against the Public Treasury, since although the Italian stated that he was a resident in Spain for tax purposes and reflected that his address was in Madrid, he only recorded in his income tax returns the personal work remuneration received from Real Madrid and omitted the income corresponding to the exploitation of its image rights that it had transferred to other entities.
In its letter, the Prosecutor’s Office emphasizes that “in order to avoid taxation on the income from said image rights”, both those received by Real Madrid and other brands for various events, the coach went to a “complex” and ” “confusing” network of trusts and companies filed to channel the collection of image rights.
Ancelotti, in December, renewed his contract with the meringues until 2026. Florentino Pérez, in this way, silenced the rumors that placed him outside the white club to direct the Brazilian National Team, which tempted him with an offer in January of last year. He will continue in Madrid, next to Mariann Barrena McClay (54), whom he married in 2014 in Vancouver, her hometown. They had two children. Davide Ancelotti (34), a former soccer player who is at his side as an assistant coach at Real Madrid; already Katia Ancelotti (39).
In his first marriage, he was married since the beginning of the 80s with Luisa Gibellini, who died in May 2021 after being ill for several days. Ancelotti then traveled to her native country to say goodbye to her.
Ancelotti and Gibellini’s marriage broke up in 2008 and Ancelotti found love again with Mariann, the woman who accompanies him on all his football adventures. From England to France, passing through Spain, Germany, Italy and, since 2021, in his second stage at Real Madrid.
