Ancelotti: “This squad is one of the best, if not the best I’ve ever had”

The white coach anticipates that Benzema will not be against Leipzig

MADRID, 23 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, highlighted the good moment of his team after winning (3-1) against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu and pointed out the current squad as the “best” squad he has ever had.

“It’s a team that I like to coach, that doesn’t give me problems, is respectful of what we do and with decisions. This squad is one of the best, if not the best I’ve ever had”, he assured.

Carlo Ancelotti appeared satisfied with the three points and the good final stage of his team thanks to the “energy” of the changes. “We went down in the second half when we conceded the goal, we lost confidence, although fortunately the changes gave the team energy and confidence, we scored the second with a spectacular counterattack and that allowed us to win the game”, he pointed out.

“The changes have brought a lot to the team, especially in terms of energy, it doesn’t mean that the substitutes have done badly. They are resources that we have because we have a spectacular bench. When the players come in from the bench and make a difference, it means that the squad he’s healthy, it’s a time of the season that we don’t have to look too much at but we have to put up with it because the demand is very great and it can’t be stopped. What we need is to continue suffering and try to win the games”, he added.

Ancelotti again highlighted the figure of Fede Valverde above the rest and when asked about the famous bet of ten goals, the coach assured that his card was “safe”. “Taking into account that last year he scored only one, I have risked a lot to score ten goals, my card is safe. I rarely bet with the players, I don’t bet in general,” he said.

In addition, Ancelotti wanted to lower the euphoria with Fede and asked for time for individual awards. “Wait a bit with Valverde, Karim has the Ballon d’Or and we’ll see next year if we score one, it could be Valverde, why not”, he stated.

Asked about the possible injury to ‘little bird’, the Italian coach reassured Real Madrid, although he scared with Benzema. “Fede has a knock on his leg and it bothers him a bit, we have to see if he can recover for Tuesday’s game. I think Karim will not recover for Tuesday but will return on Sunday,” he asserted.

The Frenchman’s situation is beginning to worry the meringues, although Ancelotti maintains his confidence in the striker intact and downplays the matter. “We are not worried about Karim, what he has had is a small thing. It is true that he has not had much continuity but Karim is healthy and motivated and continues to be important for us,” he confirmed.

“Karim is very important to us and the squad is so great that they have been able to replace him. This means that Karim is going to be more important in the second part of the season,” he added.

Regarding Marco Asensio’s lack of minutes, the Madrid coach once again made clear the importance of the Balearic Islands and recognized that “he deserves more minutes”. “Asensio is a great player who can play for Real Madrid, he is taking advantage of the few minutes and it makes me think that he deserves more, in fact, he deserves more”, he stated.
