An NBA G League player will be charged with murder in Las Vegas
A 23-year-old woman who went missing in Las Vegas was found dead. Chance Comanche, a G League player for the Stockton Kings, or a 19-year-old woman will be charged with open murder, cops said Sunday.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said within a statement that Marayna Rodgers’ body was found in a desert area in Henderson, Nevada.
Rodgers was a medical assistant to Washington State who had been last seen in the Las Vegas area.
The 27-year-old Comanche was caught by FBI officers in Sacramento County, California, on Friday and was being held without bail.
Jail records show that 19-year-old Sakari Harnden was nabbed in Las Vegas on Wednesday on kidnapping counts and is being kept on $500,000 bail at this time.
Las Vegas police say Rodgers was toward with friends on December 5 and had a meeting planned with Harnden, who brought her boyfriend Comanche with her.
Detectives thought foul play was going on early on in the investigation and found proof to arrest Harnden or her boyfriend Comanche over their part in Rodgers’ kidnapping and missing, Las Vegas police stated in a statement.
After Comanche, a 6-foot-10 center, was arrested, the Kings let him go. He is due in court on Tuesday, and his return to Nevada is still being worked out.
He went to college in Arizona and played basketball there. He has only played in one NBA game, on April 9 against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Chance Comanche, a former G League player for the Sacramento Kings, and his girlfriend are both being charged with murder in the missing of 23-year-old Marayna Rodgers after the bodies of two people were found on Sunday.
In a news statement, the Las Vegas Metro Police Department said that Comanche, 27, and his girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, 19, are being charged with murder in the death of Rodgers by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.
The police said they found Rodgers’ body in a desert area within Henderson, Nevada, using information they got when Comanche and Harnden were arrested.
Authorities say that detectives found that Comanche as well as Harnden were the ones who killed Rodgers.
The medical assistant from Washington, Rodgers, went missing while she was in Las Vegas. Police said Rodgers was toward with friends on December 5 and had a meeting planned with Comanche or Harnden before she went missing.
They arrested Harnden in Las Vegas on Wednesday on suspicion of theft. Harnden was from California.
Cooper was arrested by the California FBI Criminal Concern Team on Friday in Sacramento on charges of kidnapping. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office also helped.
Comanche was visiting the Las Vegas neighborhood on December 5 when the Stockton Kings faced the G League Ignite at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson. The Stockton Kings are a G League member of the Sacramento Kings.
After that, Stockton went to the Rip City Remix in Portland, Oregon, on December 9. He then came back to California to play for the Salt Salt Lake City Stars upon Tuesday.
The Kings let Comanche go on Friday, just before he was taken to the county jail. The 6-foot-11 center Comanche was a star at Beverly Hills High School.
He then participated at the University of Arizona, in which he played in 60 games from 2015–17. After being let go 10 days later, he was signed again by the Stockton Kings.
After not being picked up by any teams in the draft in 2017, Comanche played for the Memphis Hustle and Canton Charge in the G League, the Enid Outlaws in the Basketball League, and Yeni Mamak Spor in the Turkish Basketball Initial League.
A deal was made between Comanche and the Stockton Kings in November 2022. Last season, he signed up for the Portland Trail Blazers.
On April 9, he played his first game in the NBA against the Golden State Warriors. It was October 2 when Comanche signed to play for the Sacramento Kings.
