MADRID, Jan. 13 (SportsFinding) –
The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Toyota) has celebrated his “incredible, almost perfect day” that he has lived in the eighth stage of the Dakar, where he has touched the victory at the end of the second, and has explained that he is “charming this second week” of competition, especially for the dunes.
“It has been an incredible day. We have punctured and that has made us waste some time, but except for that mishap the day has been almost perfect. Marc (Coma) has been incredible, we have navigated fantastically well in the dunes and also in the last part, where I have seen the people from the front quite lost. I insist, Marc's navigation has been magical, “Alonso thanked his co-pilot after reaching the finish line.
The Spaniard explained that “without the traces of the motorcycles”, that this Monday did not compete in mourning for Paulo Gonçalves, the “two or three cars” ahead could not “keep the cadence of the previous days.”
“And that has benefited us. Those who come from behind will have it even easier. In any case I am happy for today's result, it has been a varied and beautiful special, with dunes and fast stretches,” he celebrated.
In this regard, Alonso stressed that he likes this type of terrain better than the one they went through last week. “Curiously, the dunes, despite being something unknown, I am very fond of. In fact it is what I like most, I do not know very well why. I have managed to print a good pace and I have enjoyed. I am delighted this second week.” he concluded.
