Nearly five million viewers followed the extra time of the derby between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid in the round of 16 of the 2023-2024 Copa del Rey on La 1, which ended with a victory (4-2) for the rojiblancos and the elimination of the current champion, as reported by RTVE in a statement.

The meeting also recorded the most watched minute of the day, at 11:17 p.m., with 5,417,000 viewers and a 39.5% screen share. The 90 regulation minutes of the match were followed by an average of 4,771,000 viewers, 32% share, and 9,188,000 viewers tuned in at some point. “The match became the most watched space of the day and La 1 was the leading network of the day, with 16.5%,” the network announced.

Extra time, with goals from Antoine Griezmann and Rodrigo Riquelme, was followed by 4,992,000 spectators, 40.8% share; and more than 6.5 million (6,580,000 viewers) watched extra time at some point.
