BARCELONA, 23 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Almería confirmed this Thursday the signing of the Portuguese Gui Guedes, a 20-year-old midfielder who arrives from Vitoria Guimaraes SC and signs for six seasons, making him an important bet for the club on his return to LaLiga Santander.
“This is one of the pearls of Lusitanian football that had even been claimed by several clubs in England and France, but Almería has gone ahead and has achieved this contract,” the club explained in its statement.
Guilherme Borges Guedes, known in football as Gui, was born on April 17, 2002 in the Portuguese town of Santa Marta de Penaguiao. He is 1.83 meters tall and trained in the lower categories of Vitoria Guimaraes. Last season 2021-2022 he made the leap to the first team playing his first games in the First Division, in the League Cup and in the Portuguese Cup.
“Gui, who is a U-20 international, is a midfielder who is characterized by his physical power and quality, having a vision of the game and an offensive character within the midfield,” Almería described the profile of their new reinforcement.
Thus, the Portuguese is the first new face for the squad for the next 2022-2023 season, after the renewals of Alex Centelles and Rodrigo Ely, and the continuity of Babic and Alejandro Pozo, after executing the purchase option he had on both .
