Almería seeks to dream of permanence at the expense of Alavés

MADRID, 25 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Almería and Alavés open matchday 22 of LaLiga EA Sports this Friday at the Power Horse Stadium, in a match in which the locals will try to achieve their first league victory of the season to engage in the fight for permanence, while Alavés will seek their third consecutive win and go to sleep 11 points above the relegation places.

The Indálicos face the clash with the need to start adding three at a time if they want not to fall even further from the fight to maintain the category. And Gaizka Garitano's team starts matchday 22 of the competition without having yet managed to win any league match, although despite this, victory would place them seven points behind Sevilla, the team that marks salvation.

To achieve victory, the Andalusian team will have to continue showing the defensive solidity that has allowed them not to concede a goal in the last three home games, and to this must be added the efficiency in front of goal that they have suffered in these matches, in those who, despite shooting 47 times, did not manage to convert any of them into goals.

For its part, Alavés is immersed in the best moment since the season started. Luis García's men arrive at the Power Horse Stadium launched after winning their last two league games, a streak that has helped them avoid relegation to eight points. In their last league outing against Sevilla, they put an end to the worst streak of a First Division team without winning away from home, going two away games without losing for the first time in this league.

In addition, they visit Almería, a city in which they have not lost in league competition since 2003. Since then, Andalusians and Basques have met on three occasions – all of them in the Second Division – with a record of two drab victories and a tie. Of course, the last precedent between the two in Almería ended with a 5-0 local victory, in the round of 32 of the 2021 Copa del Rey.

In sports, Almería loses Ramazani, scorer at the Bernabéu, due to an accumulation of yellow cards, and Luis Suárez, who has relapsed from his fibula injury, although he recovers Leo Baptistao after completing the yellow cycle, Baba and Mendes, who returns from the Africa Cup after the elimination of Ghana and Guinea-Bissau, and center back Cesar Montes, already recovered from his knee discomfort. Thus, Baptistao and César Montes are expected to return to the starting lineup, while Ramazani's position could be occupied by Embarba.

On the Vitorian side, Luis García will still be without Abqar and substitute goalkeeper Owono, both qualified for the round of 16 of the Africa Cup, and Sedlar, seriously injured. Beyond them, the Madrid coach will be able to count on the entire squad, so he could repeat the eleven he used in the victory against Cádiz, although both Omorodion and Benavidez have options to start instead of Kike García and Antonio White, respectively.
