Alejandro Martínez, fifth in the kilometer of the Nations Cup in Cali

Erik Martorell and Tania Calvo, 6th and 7th in the elimination

The Spanish track cycling team opened the last round of the Nations Cup, which is being held in Cali (Colombia), with Alejandro Martínez’s fifth place in the kilometer time trial as the most outstanding result, with Erik Martorell sixth in the elimination test.

Alejandro Martínez, sixth in the qualifying round with a time of 1:00.844, managed to overcome some stomach problems to improve his time in the final and move up to the fifth final position and with a new personal best time (1:00.372). For his part, Pepe Moreno did not pass the qualifying round and finished eleventh.

In the elimination test, both Erik Martorell and Tania Calvo were very competitive to finish in sixth and seventh place respectively. Before, Calvo also finished in seventh position in the individual pursuit after signing a time of 3:45.071.

For her part, Helena Casas made her debut with individual speed. The Catalan finished the qualifying 21st (11,409), facing Sarah Lee Wai Sze in the 1/16 final, whom she could not overcome.
