“Luis Enrique has given a lot to Spanish football and Luis de la Fuente will do it extraordinarily well”
MADRID, 22 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, assured in the Extraordinary General Assembly of the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) that the federation has “the broadest safe” objectives that he is convinced it will meet, while he defended the legacy left by former coach Luis Enrique Martínez and he was sure that his replacement, Luis de la Fuente, will do “extraordinarily well”.
“If the recognition you have is so strong, at the UEFA and FIFA level, it means that you are doing things very well and that this federation has a path and objectives that are as broad as possible. I have no doubt that they will be achieved “, assured Blanco in his speech in the Assembly.
A speech in which he flattered, and assured that from his role as president of the COE and not as a friend of Rubiales that he is, the president of the RFEF. “You have a great president, a leader in front and a great team behind that makes this federation a model. The RFEF has the best commitment to the future,” he said.
“You can be proud because you give a lot to Spanish football and Spanish sport, and through this you give a lot to Spain. For yesterday, for today and for the future, this federation is a great model led by a great leader. For me it is an honor to be here and listen and see what I am feeling in this Assembly”, he was sincere.
Regarding the last World Cup and the elimination of Spain in the round of 16, against Morocco in the penalty shootout, he acknowledged that it was not a success but he wanted to defend former coach Luis Enrique Martínez.
“We come from a World Cup, we have not had a good result. So what? This is sport, this is life. Whether you have won or not, the next day you start planning the next thing. There has been a coach criticized now, and it is not true Luis Enrique has given a lot to Spanish football”, he defended.
Of course, he predicts a great future at the hands of Luis de la Fuente, the new absolute coach after achieving success in the Under-21. “Now there will be an impressive relay with Luis de la Fuente. He will do it extraordinarily well, he will put passion, knowledge and above all he will use common sense to bring out an extraordinary team. We may not win the next European Championship, but we will be prepared to compete and win in any championship”, he opined.
On the other hand, he highlighted the successes of the men’s and women’s youth teams. “Spain, in recent times, in all categories has won medals at a European and world level in Sub-17 to Sub-20 in boys, and now in girls, with a fantastic progression that is surely the best of all the federations of the world,” he said.
