Alejandro Blanco, ratified as member of the Executive Council of ANOC

MADRID, 20 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, has been ratified this Thursday as a member of the Executive Council of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) for the period
2022-2026.

As indicated by the COE in a press release, this appointment, made during the XXVI General Assembly of ANOC, is within the quota of six members that correspond to Europe and among which are also the president, the vice president and the general secretary of the European Olympic Committees, Spyros Capralos; Daina Gudzineviciute and Raffaele Pagnozzi, respectively; the president of the Polish Olympic Committee, Andrezej Krasnicki, and the general secretary of the Olympic Committee
Turkish, Nese Gundogan.

Blanco was proposed by Capralos himself, as one of his representatives to the ANOC Executive Committee, “for his relevant role in mediation and ability to reach consensus in conflict resolution to maintain the independence of sport.”

Likewise, during the XXVI General Assembly of ANOC, held in Seoul, Fijian Robin Mitchell was elected as president, and Qatari Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani as vice president of the organization, positions for which no one else had applied.
