Alcácer recovers his scoring pulse in Europe at a record pace

The forward of the Villarreal Paco Alcacer was the author of the first of the two goals that gave victory to the Villarreal in Salzburg, in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32, which allowed him to end a streak of just over a hundred days without scoring, as well as increase his spectacular scoring statistics in Europe this season.

In this way, the Valencian striker accumulates five goals in that competition in which he has only played 95 minutes, a little more than a full game.

His scoring streak is record-breaking and is that he adds a goal every 19 minutes, a percentage much higher than that of, for example, the top scorer in the competition, the Portuguese of the Benfica, Pizzi who has scored 7 targets in 327 minutes, one every 46.7 minutes.

The footballer had not played in European competition since October when he participated in the match of the first phase of the competition against Qarabag. On that occasion, Alcácer resolved the crash (1-3) by scoring two targets in the final stretch of the crash – minute 80 and 90 + 5 – and after having replaced his teammate Kubo in minute 74.

In this way he repeated the story he had starred in at the premiere of the competition against Turkish Sivasspor. Then, another double of his in the final minutes – minute 74 and 78 -, after having entered the field in minute 70 in the place of Colombian Carlos Bacca, decided the match in favor of Villarreal who won 5-3.

With this goal, Alcácer, who was injured for two months, accumulating two muscle injuries, a discomfort in the hamstrings and a tear in the hamstring, ends a streak of 102 days without seeing a goal, since his last goal went back to the November 8 against Getafe.

Since his reappearance to date, the forward had missed two penalties, one against Granada and another this Thursday against Salzburg. A situation that seemed to be affecting the player, who was having a hard time recovering the scoring rhythm before the injury.

Alcácer was injured when he was one of the league's top scorers with five goals, and one of the top scorers in European competition with four goals.
