Alberto Toril puts on the hero’s cape in Poland

After two seasons at Real Murcia, Alberto Toril (Palma de Mallorca, 1997) set course for Poland with a clear objective between eyebrows: to triumph in the First Division. The Balearic forward encountered a language barrier, but also with the confidence of his coach, Waldemar Fornalik, who from the first moment trusted him as ‘9’ of the Piast Gliwice. “When you go to a country that is not yours you need a period of adaptation. It is not easy, but the coach is giving me minutes and thus, playing, everything is simpler”, discovers in AS a Toril on the rise after living his first great night on the Ekstraklasa. He scored his first hat-trick as a professional and did it nothing more and nothing less than to defeat Legia de Warsaw, the current champion of the tournament. “He did not score three goals in a game since he was young,” he admits.

“The hat-trick helped me to realize that I can succeed in Poland”

Alberto Toril confesses that, until the match against Legia, “I was not able to be comfortable on the field”. The Spanish striker had already scored two important goals with the Piast Gliwice jersey, but was having a hard time finding his best version. “The hat-trick helped me to realize that I can succeed in Poland,” he discovered with satisfaction. “I like the three goals: in the first the peak over the goalkeeper and the second and third are two good shots,” he adds. Piast has achieved five victories in the Ekstraklasa and Toril’s goals have played a fundamental role in three of them: he debuted as a scorer in the victory by the minimum against Wisla Plock (4-3), he scored the only goal of the match against Wisla Krakow (1-0) and won a triplet against Legia (4-1). “That he has scored all five goals at home is a coincidence. I want to score in all stadiums.”

When his time at Real Murcia ended, Alberto Toril received the call of several Second Division teamsBut he decided to go to Poland and, after four months wearing the Piast Gliwice jersey, he feels that “it is the best decision I have made”. “The Ekstraklasa is a spectacular league. The previews, the atmosphere, the television, the giant stadiums full of people, the salary … You can tell that you are playing in the First Division,” adds Toril, who believes that Piast has a team ” to be up “:” There are very good players. Lately we have left points that we should not have left, but if we fix four things we can be up “. The Mallorcan hopes to repeat his favorite celebration many more times: “It’s because of my friend Antonio Sánchez, who plays for Mallorca. Whenever we get in, we do that celebration because we call each other later, but I’m still waiting for him to call me this season.”
