Albert Sàbat retires and will be Aíto’s assistant in Girona

The player Albert Sàbat puts an end to his professional career after achieving promotion to the ACB with Bàsquet Girona, the last club in which he played after twenty seasons and in which he will continue as assistant to Aíto García Reneses, who will train the Catalan team in its debut in the Endesa League.

Albert Sàbat Vilà (Llagostera, 1985) extended his career as a player for twenty seasons. Formed in the lower categories of Club Baloncesto Llagostera and Club Sant Josep Girona, he made his debut at CB Girona de ACB in the 2002-03 season while competing in the linked team ADEPAF Figueres de EBA.

After passing through Lleida, Tenerife, Vigo, Vic, CB Sant Josep Girona, CB Canarias, Alicante and Tizona de Burgos, he returned to the top category as the base of the Club Joventut de Badalona and the CAB Obradoiro, before concluding his stage at home. , Bàsquet Girona, with the promotion to the ACB.

Sàbat is no longer a player and captain of the first team after 97 appearances, a promotion to LEB Gold, 2 LEB Gold Catalan League MVPs, 2 LEB Gold Catalan Leagues and a historic promotion to the ACB.

Now, the Catalan will continue to be linked to the club chaired and founded by Marc Gasol, joining the technical organization chart of the Bàsquet Girona first team, under the command of Aíto García Reneses. Next season, the debut season in the elite, the club will pay tribute to the Fontajau pavilion.
