MADRID, 16 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tennis players Albert Ramos and Fernando Verdasco qualified this Tuesday for the second round of the tournament in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), scoring for the ATP and which is played on clay, by beating the Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero (6-3, 6-4) and Serbian Dusan Lajovic (7-6, 6-3), respectively.
The Catalan, champion this year on the red clay of Córdoba (Argentina) and eighth seed, did not give his rival many options, whom he had already won precisely on the way to this title and whom he had dominated after winning the first set with two breaks and being 3-0 up in the second.
However, Londero reacted and recovered the break from the deficit to equalize, but could not withstand the pressure at 5-4 and wasted a 40-15 advantage to end up giving up his serve again and the ticket to the next round where the Spaniard will face to his compatriot Pablo Andújar.
For his part, veteran Fernando Verdasco, who reached the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires last week, defeated Serbian Dusan Lajovic 7-6(4), 6-3. The man from Madrid was able to overcome a 1-4 deficit in the first round and saved two set points at 6-5, while in the second he broke at 4-3 to close his classification without problems. Argentine Federico Coria will be his next rival.
