MADRID, 25 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Deportivo Alavés could not (0-0) with Cartagena this Saturday on matchday 29 of LaLiga SmartBank, failing the assault on the leadership that UD Las Palmas will maintain although adding for direct promotion, while Leganés tied (0-0 ) against Mirandés again unable to keep up with the promotion zone.
The team from Vitoria was looking for the lead in Mendizorroza but got stuck against a well-armed rival who is fighting to reach the ‘Top 6’. Alavés, on a five-game winning streak, cheered up in the second half after an even start with no chances.
The Basques forgave and Cartagena became stronger in their resistance to score on a demanding pitch. Luis García Plaza’s team remains second with 53 points, the same as a Las Palmas that plays against Ponferradina on Sunday and an Eibar that had met on Friday against Villarreal B (2-0).
Meanwhile, Leganés carried a little more danger in Anduva than the locals but both were left without seeing the door, in a deal that makes it difficult for the people of Madrid to reach the ‘playoffs’ positions, with three consecutive days without winning. For their part, Sporting de Gijón won five games later thanks to Queipo’s 1-0 win over Tenerife.
Lastly, Racing Santander, in celebration of its 110th anniversary, achieved a valuable victory (2-0) at the Campos de Sport in El Sardinero against Andorra. The Cantabrian team took advantage of their two clearest chances in the first half to put a crucial game on track that takes them away from the relegation places.
