Alavés and Granada sign a tense tie that benefits the leader Eibar

MADRID, 5 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Deportivo Alavés and Granada CF tied this Friday (1-1) in the opening game of matchday 39 of LaLiga SmartBank, thanks to a fairly tense game and the result of which benefited the leadership held by SD Eibar.

At the Estadio de Mendizorroza, visiting goalkeeper André Ferreira saved a point for his team by deflecting a penalty in the 87th minute to Salva Sevilla. That maximum penalty, much protested by Granada after a VAR review, had been produced by Quini Marín in a corner after Aleksandar Sedlar’s header.

Earlier, the Granada team had taken the lead midway through the first half, with another penalty caused and scored by Myrto Uzuni. Alavés equalized, with the push of their fans, in the 66th minute with a shot by Luis Rioja on the left side of the rival area, after a bounced pass from Miguel de la Fuente from the opposite side.

With a man less due to the expulsion of Sergio Ruiz, Granada endured the final 1-1 that left the team from Vitoria with 66 points in third place. They are tied precisely with Granada in their pursuit of leader Eibar, who occupies the top with 67 points and who next Monday (9:00 p.m.) will face UD Las Palmas.
