After rumors about LIV, Tony Finau posts he’s going back to the PGA Tour.
Tony Finau said on social media on Monday that he is not leaving the PGA Tour for the LIV Golf League.
Nbc has learned that the LIV Golf League is looking for other PGA Tour stars to join Rahm’s team.
Finnau, who has won six times on the PGA Tour, said on Instagram that he will be back for a tenth season in 2024.
There was talk recently that Finau might move to the LIV Golf League, and at last week’s the Grant Thornton Invitational, he didn’t do much to put that talk to rest.
On Thursday, LIV Golf signed the third-ranked player within the world, Jon Rahm, from Spain to a deal worth more than $300 million over several years.
“I’m excited for 2024 and looking at the prospect of playing my 10th season on the PGA Tour!” Finau put something on Instagram.
“I’m excited to defend in both Mexico as well as Houston! Thanks to my partners for always being there for me.
Thanks to all of our friends for all the love they have shown us.Finnau, who is 34 years old, won the Houston Open in November 2022 as well as the Mexico Open in April of this year. Out of 24 starts, 13 of them put him in the top 25.
Over the course of his PGA Tour career, Finau has earned more than $37.4 million. He is ranked 21st in the Official Word Golf Ranking right now.
It was said that Finau could join Jon Rahm in the Saudi-funded league. When asked about the rumors, Finau said, “Right now I have little to say.” Nothing has been said.
After a few minutes, someone asked him if he had anything to say about his name being mentioned. “No, not yet,” he replied. “I haven’t let anything linger other than just playing right now.”
Finau had just finished his round at the Grant Thornton Invitational with partner Nelly Korda. With a score of 16-under-56, they were in first place.
“I know there’s talk about me going,” he stated. “They’re not true at all. I have no idea where these reports came from.
Chris Armstrong, Finau’s lawyer, told SI.com that all of it was just a rumor. He is 34 years old and has won a total of six times on the PGA Tour. He is ranked 21st in the world.
Some of the most talked-about names to make the jump are Finau and Tyrrell Hatton from Great Britain.
The name Jason Day is still being thrown around, even though he told The Palm Beach Post who LIV Golf “is still not for me.”
“I still find it hard to watch LIV. Some of their ideas are good, though. I think they haven’t quite nailed either the style or the real excitement of what they want to do.
Rahm is the third best golfer within the world and the defending Masters winner. He told Fox News on Thursday that he is joining LIV.
With bonuses, Rahm’s deal is said to be worth more than $550 million over the course of three years, which is more than $300 million.
Finau is good friends with Rahm, and there are a lot of rumors that he might be ready to get a big deal to leave the PGA Tour and join LIV. He has now promised to stay with the PGA Tour, though.
“The 2023 season is over!” he wrote on Instagram. An amazing and unique season, with a win at the Mexico Open being the highlight. I won my sixth PGA Tour event.
