The Spanish Sports Association (ADESP) has called a meeting for this Friday with the federations that use regular league formats, in order to study “the legal options” of each competition that is suspended due to the coronavirus crisis.
This was confirmed this Thursday by the Spanish Rugby Federation (FER) in a press release, echoing the invitation it had received from ADESP, along with other federations also affected by the current state of alarm.
“The objective is to jointly study the existing legal options to, in the event that the 2019/20 season competitions should be terminated, adopt a solution that harms the interests of all parties involved as little as possible”, has indicated the FER.
“The problem is that there is a legal vacuum in this regard, so a legislative tool should be requested from the Higher Sports Council (CSD), as it would be a unique precept to incorporate in a resolution of this organism “, the FER has continued.
In said resolution, according to the press release, “it would be determined – with legal rank – how to proceed by the Spanish sports federations for the resolution of this type of cases derived from an exceptional situation of force majeure emerged in the current season. “
