The march began on Saturday. Some 35,000 people, including Greta Thunberg, to protest against the project and which ended with a major confrontation between the activists and the authorities when they undertook the evacuation protocol, which they terminated on Sunday. Greta did not resist the arrest and she was carried away by four officers while she remained calm at all times.

Environmentalists claim that the police used violence to evict them from Luetzerath and speak of “sheer violence, uncontrolled beatings, dog bites and water cannons”. They reported dozens of injuries and at least twenty of them had to be taken to the hospital. The police version is very different. They assure that more than seventy agents were injured: “They attacked us with projectiles, stones, mud, firecrackers. This does not fit within the framework of a peaceful demonstration,” said spokesman Andreas Müller. For this reason, legal action has been taken against 150 activists, including Greta.
