- Landa confirms that “everything is fine” and hopes to return to training soon
The Alava cyclist Mikel Landa has been one of the two run over this Saturday in Zigoitia (Álava) by a driver who has fled and has subsequently been arrested by the Ertzaintza. The Alava athlete has said that the first tests confirm that “everything is fine” and hopes “in the next few days return to training”
Police officers arrested the tourist driver this afternoon after running over two cyclists on the N-622 road passing through Zigoitia (Álava) and running away. The accident occurred at quarter past one this afternoon when the two cyclists were driving along the N-622 motorway as it passed through Zigoitia towards Bilbao.
After being treated on site, the two athletes, 30 and 42 years old, have been transferred to the Hospital of Santiago de Vitoria by an ambulance.
As Mikel Landa himself has reported in his personal Twitter account, he has been one of the two cyclists affected in the accident while pedaling with a friend. He also noted that the first tests “confirm that everything is fine.”
The current member of the Bahrain McLaren team has published a photo in the hospital of Santiago de Vitoria in which he notes that this morning while training with a friend, a car “has rammed them from behind, running away”. After affirming that he is in good condition, he shows his confidence in returning to training “in the next few days”.
