Raúl's dilemma

As reported by 'Goal Germany', Eintracht Frankfurt has already contacted Raúl González Blanco, Castilla coach, to probe him on the possibility of taking over the team next year, before Adi Hütter leaves for Borussia Mönchelgladbach. The mythical '7' white left a very positive mark on Germany after his time at Schalke, where he played two seasons, scored 40 goals and he won a German Cup and a Super Cup, as well as taking the team to the semifinals of the Champions League, eliminating Inter, then the current champion of the European tournament, on the way.

Although he has not yet trained any team at a professional level, the clubs of the Old Continent have not stopped paying attention to his first steps on the bench. You could already see Raúl in his stage as a wooden player as a coach, given the demand that he always imposed on himself and his desire to organize, still playing in the attack zone. Details that have materialized in time and that have allowed him to win a Youth League by taking charge of the Real Madrid Youth and directing Castilla with a good hand.

Last year, the Second B season ended with the Whites' subsidiary seventh, fighting for the play-off for promotion to Second; In this, he went on to the second phase of the regular season and on Sunday he managed to get into the play-off after a great victory in Talavera. And in both cases, pulling many players in his first year at Castilla, direct from the youth. In the short time he has been directing teams from the white quarry, the main lines of his technical script have already been intuited: a lot of solidity in his own field; 4-3-3 as the main drawing, although with the capacity to move to a system of three centrals; a lot of importance for the attacking and arriving full-backs; and the commitment to talented footballers in the area where the field was created, over and above physical qualities (see Arribas, Blanco, Gelabert …).

Eintracht's interest is the first that has transpired and the offer is undoubtedly tempting: with three games to go, the Frankfurt team is fourth in the Bundesliga and is fighting to enter the Champions League, with Dortmund on their heels. A team that already reached the Europa Leaque semifinal in 2018-19 and has good players like Jovic (on loan from Madrid, his future remains to be seen), André Silva, Durm, Kamada or Kostic. But Raúl currently has a dilemma before him: get on one of the trains that pass him or wait, knowing that the Real Madrid bench is closer than it seems.

Raúl and the Zidane formula

And it is that the experience with Zidane has led Florentino Pérez to the conviction that the formula of betting on former players From the house with good traces of a coach is better than bringing in technicians from outside. In this second stage in the presidency of Madrid, those who have worked best on the bench were Ancelotti (with Zidane as second and as a liaison for the squad; then Hierra covered his place) and Zidane, without a doubt; even Solari improved by raising Lopetegui's benefits from Castilla, who arrived with the fame of a national coach, but which lasted just three months, preseason included.

Thus, right now Raúl is the first in the line of succession if Zidane decides not to continue on the Real Madrid bench (stopping him is not on the table, even if he does not win any title this season). And the reality is that in the dressing room and in the white club there is a runrún that makes them think that the Marseille could leave at the end of this course to facilitate the necessary renewal of the white squad, with the interest of Juventus and the French Federation in the background. If that runrún is consummated, Raúl is the first option, a reason more than enough to cool the interest of Eintracht and all those who call for its launch in the coming weeks.
