Wilson Kipsang receives a “provisional suspension” after breaking anti-doping regulations

The Kenyan athlete Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich, 37, has received a “provisional suspension” on Friday after violating the anti-doping regulations of the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), an independent management body that is protected by the International Federation of Athletics (IAAF).

Kipsang has been accused of making mistakes when notifying his whereabouts, which is established in Article 2.4 of the regulation and the AIU has recalled this on his website. Likewise, the marathoner has been accused of breaking Article 2.5, regarding manipulation or attempted manipulation of evidence.

Bronze medalist in the marathon of the London 2012 Olympic Games, with a time of 2:09:37, Kipsang broke the world record for this specialty in 2013 after signing a time of 2:03:23 in Berlin (Germany) and improving the previous record in 15 seconds.
