Chicharito scored a double for the first time in two years

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández had a great presentation in the 2021 season of Major League Soccer, as scored a double to give LA Galaxy the win over Inter Miami at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, where the Mexican equaled the number of goals he scored during his first MLS season and recorded a double for the first time in more than two years.

The Aztec attacker scored at minute 62 and 73, before Sacha Kljestan scored the goal that sentenced the victory for the Los Angeles team, who took all 3 points in their first game against Inter Miami and ‘Chicharito’ scored his first MLS double to tie his scoring record during the 2020 campaign.

Hernández did not score a double since March 16, 2019, when with their goals in the last minutes, West Ham turned the scoreboard and beat Huddersfield Town, for the Mexican to register one of his last great performances in the Premier League, before moving to Seville, where he barely scored three goals and was signed by the Los Angeles team the previous year.

With his goals this Sunday, 'Chicharito' equaled the scoring quota he registered during his first year as a Galaxy player, as he scored a penalty goal during the Special MLS is Back Tournament, against Portland Timbers and one more during the regular season, against Seattle Sounders, in a campaign in which Hernández was left to owe, after the expectation generated around his signing.

The former player of teams such as Manchester United and Real Madrid, was together with the Peruvian, Raúl Ruidíaz, the only player to register a double during the opening day of MLS 2021, so both occupy the top of the scoring table in American football after the first date.

All Chicharito's doublets

The double against Inter Miami, became number 35 in the career of ‘Chicharito’ Hernández, both at the club level and with the Mexican National Team, since its debut. Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen are tied as the teams with which the 32-year-old attacker recorded the most doubles, with 8 apiece and in three games he managed to score a hat-trick.

Hernández will make his presentation with LA Galaxy, this season, when the Californian team receives the New York Red Bulls, next Sunday, April 25 at Dignity Health Sports Park, in the match of week 2 of the MLS.
