Vasek Pospisil, number 67 in the ATP ranking, fell in the first round of the Miami Masters 1000 against the American Mackenzie McDonald. The first set of the match was resolved with a point awarded to McDonald for violation of the code.
The Canadian tennis player did not stop talking before serving with 2 set balls in favor of the American. The chair umpire, who had already warned him, sanctioned him with a point.
As he walked to his bench he asked him why he was doing it. Pospisil replied that “he had been arguing loudly for an hour and a half” with the president of the ATP, Arnaud Gabas.
Pospisil leads the players' guild together with Novak Djokovic (Professional Tenneis Player Association) and they must have had an unfriendly meeting with Gabas. The Canadian called him a “shitty idiot” while explaining it to the referee and took the opportunity to ask himself loudly that “why do I support this shitty business”.
