Davidovich says goodbye; Tsitsipas and Medvedev do not give options

Alexander Davidovich he was eliminated this Thursday in the round of 16 of the Marseille tournament, ATP 250 category that is disputed on hard court, after being traced back by the French Arthur Rinderknech in 1 hour and 42 minutes of the game.

Davidovich scored the first set 6-3, but gave up in the following 6-1 and 6-2, losing service up to four times and handing over the ticket to his opponent for the quarterfinals of the Marseille contest.

Rinderknech's victory will allow him to face his compatriot Ugo Humbert in the next round and -in addition- leave the tournament without Spanish tennis players. Last Tuesday, Davidovich's farewell was joined by the early elimination of Feliciano López, who fell on his debut against Tsonga.

Favorites do not fail

In the rest of the day, the favorites demonstrated their theoretical superiority with facts on the track. Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas sealed their ticket to the quarterfinals after surpassing with relative comfort to Egor Gerasimov (6-2 and 6-4) and Lucas Pouille (6-2 and 6-3), respectively. The next rival of the Russian will be Jannik Sinner, while that of the Greek will be Pierre-Huges Herbert.
