No appeal resolution. Diego Martínez will not be on the bench against Real

Diego Martínez will not be able to sit on the bench at Los Cármenes this Sunday against Real Sociedad due to the sanction of two games imposed by the Competition Committee because of his expulsion last Sunday in San Mamés. Raúl Espínola, his second on board, will be in charge of directing the team.

Martínez Munuera, Valencian referee, showed the coach the red card already in the dressing room tunnel for ‘repeated protests’ as reflected in the minutes. The reason for Diego's anger was a play where the referee's assistant conceded a throw-in to Athletic claimed as their own by Granada. The play continued and ended in the 2-1 scored by Berenguer.

Granada filed an appeal with the Appeals Committee to try to have said suspension revoked in whole or in part. But it has not arrived the resolution, which is expected next week.

This is another demonstration of the severity with which sports justice treats coaches often equating more or less heated discussions in their agreements with more brusque actions on the field of play. The club hopes that at least Diego can be on the bench next Sunday against Valencia at the Mestalla.
