After spending the night of Monday, March 1 at the Les Corts police station, Josep Maria Bartomeu, former president of Barça, was transferred this Tuesday morning to the Palace of Justice of L'Hospitalet to be brought to justice and testify before Judge Alejandra Gil for the Barçagate case, head of court number 13 of the Barcelona Court. With him, Jaume Masferrer, his advisor, right-hand man and former chief of staff of the presidency at Barça. In addition, as reported by SER Catalunya, Bartomeu and Masferrer have spent the night alone in a different cell each at the police station.
Josep Maria Bartomeu was arrested this Monday in the framework of Barçagate, in which Judge Gil investigates alleged crimes of unfair administration and corruption of individuals in the relationship between Barça and I3 Ventures, the company that monitored the Barça club's social networks and created missing Facebook accounts to erode the image of Barça players. The agreement, which can exceed three million euros, was divided into invoices of less than 200,000 euros to bypass the club's financial controls and bypass transparency controls.
According to some sources, the judge could also have seen evidence of money laundering, which would take the case to a more serious stage. For now, Josep Maria Bartomeu will declare before the judge that he will decide what to do with the former president and with Masferrer, less than 10 days after the summary secrecy of a case that has been under investigation for nine months is lifted.
