The Argentine coach and former player Hernan Crespo affirmed this Tuesday that assuming the bench of Sao Paulo it is a “beautiful responsibility”, in his first statements to the press in Brazilian territory.
“It's a beautiful responsibility. A beautiful responsibility to be in a big club,” said the former Albiceleste striker, moments after landing at the international airport of Guarulhos, metropolitan area of Sao Paulo.
'Valdanito' Curly, who signed for two years with the Tricolor of Morumbí, was surrounded by a cloud of photographers and journalists that made it difficult for a few minutes to pass through the corridors of the terminal.
The 45-year-old coach said that he has seen the last games of his new team and that expectations are “always high” when starting a new project.
He also avoided talking specifically about the captain of the squad, Dani
Alves, and only limited himself to saying that there will be “time to talk to all” the players in the cast.
Curly, who will be the sixth Argentine coach to coach Sao Paulo, has just succeeded as coach of Defense and Justice of his country, with whom he won the last edition of the Copa Sudamericana.
The former player of Parma, Inter, Milan Y Chelsea, among other great clubs, will now face the challenge of returning Sao Paulo to the title track. The last important trophy that the São Paulo team won was in 2012, when they raised the South American Cup.
Crespo will replace the Brazilian in office Fernando Diniz, who was fired earlier this month, in the midst of a crisis of results and when the team still had options to fight for the Brazilian Championship.
