The complaint for racism against Ramírez in Brazil is filed

The Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) of Brazil filed this Thursday for lack of evidence the complaint against the Colombian midfielder Juan Pablo 'the Indian' Ramírez, for an alleged act of racial insult against the player of the Flamengo Gerson.

The investigating judge in the case, Mauricio Fonseca, indicated that Gerson and his colleagues Bruno Henrique and Natan, cited as witnesses, “did not appear in court nor did they express their interest in testifying by videoconference.”

In that sense, “without records that prove the facts and their materiality” and only with the “isolated word of Gerson, which was considered by the collegiate, but which alone does not authorize the continuation of the complaint”, the STJD decided to archive the case occurred on December 20.

Gerson Flamengo defeated Bahía de Ramírez 4-3.

In one of the many discussions that took place during the game played at the Maracana stadium, Gerson accused the Colombian player of disparagingly saying “shut up, black”, a situation that led the former Roma player to file a complaint with the police.

Ramírez, who was separated from Bahía for a few days due to this situation, recorded a video in which he denied the accusations and even accused Bruno Henrique of an alleged xenophobic act after calling him a “shitty gringo” after the incident with Gerson.

At the Rio de Janeiro police station where Gerson filed the complaint a day after the incident, Bruno Henrique and Natan declared that they did not hear the Colombian utter the insult with the words quoted by his partner.

However, the Police concluded the investigations last week, saw evidence of a racial crime by Ramírez against Gerson, sent the complaint to the Public Ministry, which will determine whether or not to accept it to continue the process in the civil sphere, regardless of whether it was filed in sports.

After the concept of the Civil Police and before the decision of this Thursday of the STJD, Bahia, one of the flagship clubs in the fight against discrimination in Brazil, issued a statement in which it supported its player after “having a month has passed without further evidence being provided “to the complaint.
